New Mexico Democrats Push for Early Childhood Education (Albuquerque Business First)

In the Democratic response to Gov. Susana Martinez’s State of the State speech on Tuesday, Sen. William P. “Bill” Soules, D-Doña Ana County, said the state’s main problems include poverty and the economy, as well as education. Soules said the party’s top two priorities this year will be passing constitutional amendments to increase the minimum wage and to tap into the state’s permanent fund to fund early childhood education. “We want to fund early childhood education statewide,” Souls said. “Our children can’t wait.
