30 Years of Nurturing Every Child's Potential

For more than three decades, Cadence Education has been a dedicated partner to working families, providing an exceptional preschool education and a nurturing environment to thousands of children, through a family of diverse schools rooted in their local communities. What began as a vision to deliver a high-quality alternative to traditional daycare has grown into one of the premier private preschool networks in the United States. Today, with a family of more than 350 schools across 30 states, Cadence Education provides academic and social-emotional preparedness with the heartwarming, personal feel of a neighborhood school.

Cadence supports the modern working family by offering a variety of services and options to meet their needs. Most locations are open before and after the workday, offering dependable coverage that accommodates full-time work schedules and daily commutes. Many schools offer families flexibility with both full-time and part-time enrollment options, as well as flexible drop-in care. Our schools nurture children from early infancy through school-age milestones, including specialized infant care, toddler exploration, preschool discovery, pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, and before/after care and school break programs for school-age children.

Because no two children or families are alike, Cadence offers a variety of educational approaches and strives to meet each child where they are. Most Cadence Education schools utilize the Ascend curriculum, a proprietary, skills-based curriculum that structures daily learning around hands-on activities that build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, math, and science. Parents can also choose from other educational philosophies within the Cadence Education family of schools. Rooted in multi-age groupings and led by skilled teachers called guides, Montessori schools empower children to grow through self-directed learning and independent discovery. Reggio-Inspired schools bring learning alive through a child-centered methodology with a strong emphasis on artistic expression and exploring the natural world. Faith-Based programs seamlessly weave spiritual growth and moral development into the academic day. Designed to foster a rich global mindset, Language Immersion programs engage children completely in Spanish language through hands-on play, boosting bilingual skills and cultural awareness.

Uniting all Cadence Education schools is a passionate belief that social-emotional development is just as important as academic preparedness. Within the Kind Child framework, educators intentionally help children develop essential social and life skills by modeling empathy, responsibility, and gratitude, enabling children to learn by example and practice these behaviors within the flow of the day. Kindness is a core value lived daily at Cadence Education.

Pre-K Partnerships: Expanding Universal Pre-K Access

Cadence Education supports expanding access to educational opportunities for all families and is proud to partner with public school systems to offer universal pre-K (UPK) in 20 states. Through these collaborative partnerships, Cadence helps provide families with availability and choice for high-quality pre-K education as well as the before and after care many working families rely on.

As Amanda Connor, Cadence Education's Director of Grants and Government Affairs, noted, "Every additional UPK seat represents another opportunity to change a child's journey, and provide families with the quality care and education that they deserve. Expanding UPK availability also gives the parents the choice of where they enroll their child to have access to that high-quality care,” she said. “That's why partnership is so important.”

Tracy Martin-Turgeon, Regional Director for Cadence Education in Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey, has worked collaboratively with local school districts to develop partnerships that increase UPK capacity, maximize existing community resources, and provide more families with access to high-quality preschool options. This partnership reflects a deep and long-term commitment to working alongside school districts to meet the evolving needs of children and families.

Melissa McMahon, Preschool Program Supervisor for the Washington Township School District, located in Sewell, N.J., is among those with whom Tracy works directly.

“Through our partnership with Cadence Academy, numerous Washington Township families have gained access to high-quality preschool opportunities,” Ms. McMahon said. “The center’s commitment to educational best practices and the thoughtful implementation of a state-approved curriculum truly sets them apart. Cadence Academy has proven to be an exceptional community partner alongside our public schools, consistently demonstrating a dedication to meeting and exceeding New Jersey’s rigorous quality standards while supporting positive outcomes for children and families.”

Dr. Farrah Mahan, Assistant Superintendent, Pre-K and Curriculum, Cherry Hill Public Schools (CHPS) reports having a similarly positive UPK relationship with the Cadence Academy School in Cherry Hill, N.J., where the district continues to provide a comprehensive preschool program for all eligible 3- and 4-year-olds.

“It is our mission to provide your children with the best possible educational opportunities within a stimulating and nurturing environment,” Dr. Mahan said. “Our instructional program is based on the belief that all young children can learn in an atmosphere that encourages and respects individuals while fostering curiosity, spontaneity, skill development, and the building of a positive self-image.”

Dr. Mahan added that establishing relationships with private provider facilities is a must to serve its preschool population of about 1,700 students. Under the leadership of Cadence Academy School Director Delilah Diaz, the partnership has flourished.

“Cadence Academy has allowed us to expand our program, which will impact more preschool children,” Dr. Mahan said. “The partnership has been mutually beneficial and impactful for the students we serve. Everything with the collaboration including leadership, implementation of program, professional development, and care of students has been wonderful.”

Through collaborative partnerships with local school districts in New Jersey townships such as Sewell and Cherry Hill, Cadence has expanded access to high-quality early learning opportunities while building upon the strong educational foundation already present in its schools. These partnerships align shared commitments to excellence, allowing schools to implement rigorous standards, share best practices, and create enriching learning experiences for all children. Reflecting on her work overseeing schools in New Jersey, Tracy emphasized that these successful public-private partnerships create lasting benefits for children, families, schools, and the broader community.

Impact Story #2

Supporting Women in the Workforce

Women comprise 97% of Cadence Education’s workforce. For that reason, Cadence Education understands how safe and reliable childcare is essential for working mothers and families. Many Cadence Education schools provide before-school and after-school programs in addition to the regular school day, helping parents remain in the workforce while ensuring children receive safe, high-quality care.

Cadence Education invests in its people and is committed to building pathways for motivated team members to move forward in their careers. In the classroom, Cadence provides industry-competitive wages and a robust benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and 401(k) retirement benefits. Parents working in schools are offered tuition discounts as well as the opportunity to work in the same location as their children. Teachers are also offered a wide range of professional development opportunities including internal online and in-person classes, tuition assistance and certification support for external credentials, as well as subsidized tuition at Cadence’s MACTE-certified Montessori teacher certification school.

Additionally, Cadence offers leadership growth courses beginning with teachers who express interest and capability in moving into school leadership roles, starting from Teacher to Lead Teacher, and extending into specialized training for every next level. Cadence’s size allows employees to build long-term careers in early childhood education and many school leaders, field managers, and support specialists were promoted from the classroom.

In her role as Vice President of Acquisitions and Integration, Angel Poore oversees welcoming new schools into the Cadence Education family, ensuring that the change process is seamless for the team, and not disruptive to the high-quality care and teaching continuing in the classrooms. To do this well, she draws from every role she has served in during her 25+ years with Cadence, beginning as a preschool Assistant Teacher in her teens through roles of increasing responsibility, to a regional Vice President and now her current role. For Angel, the most rewarding part of her journey has never been about the titles – it has been the people she has had the privilege of mentoring along the way. "The opportunities—if you're willing to learn, grow, and take on challenges—are absolutely available to you," Angel said. "I've always had a seat at the table in every role at Cadence, and they've always allowed me to speak for the children, the educators, and the families. My biggest win when I hang up my hat at the end of my career is going to be how many people I grew behind me to go on and have careers similar to mine.”

Stacy Anderson initially joined a Cadence Education school as a volunteer parent before becoming a member of the school staff as a preschool Lead Teacher, and then advancing to a School Director role and ultimately to a corporate role as National Director of Training at the School Support Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Her focus is to ensure that educators and field leaders are supported and get the training they need to be successful in their classrooms, schools, and careers. Stacy credits much of her growth to the exceptional leaders and mentors who have influenced her throughout her career at Cadence.

“Cadence has enabled me to benefit from others’ commitment to growing my career, and I love my ability to now pour into others,” Stacy said. From first experiencing Cadence as a parent to serving in roles across the organization, she has embraced opportunities to learn, lead, and be a champion of Cadence’s mission. “Having been a teacher myself, I know what it feels like to be in that classroom and need someone in your corner,” Stacy said. “What drives me every day is the opportunity to be that spark for educators – to help them see the possibilities for their own career growth and to give them the tools and support to get there.”

Beginning her career in early childhood education as an Assistant Teacher, Taryn Wenc quickly grew into a Teacher at one of the Next Generation Children's Centers (NGCC) in Massachusetts. She then advanced into the role of School Director, leading several schools before being promoted to Regional Director. While that milestone alone would have defined many careers, for Taryn it was only the beginning. When the NGCC schools joined the Cadence family, new doors of opportunity opened that Taryn had not yet imagined. She moved up to a Territory Vice President role overseeing operations in the Northeast, continued to take on expanding responsibilities, and now serves as Executive Vice President over the company's largest territory. Along the way, Taryn discovered that growing within a larger organization only deepened her ability to live out the mission that has always driven her. “What I realized was that being part of the Cadence family gave me access to specialists, resources, and support systems that allowed me to further fulfill my mission of helping others learn, grow, and succeed — no matter what level they are at,” Taryn said. “It gave me the opportunity to expand my reach and grow in ways I had not anticipated, and I am grateful every day for that.'"

Cadence’s organization and culture is shaped by those who spent years guiding young minds in the classroom. The expansive community of schools provides opportunities for career growth, along with experienced mentors and the ability to share best practices across schools, at local events, and during national conferences where the next generation of leaders takes the stage.
